Day 39: Brisbane

This morning we woke up to stifling heat and, with Em having got off on the wrong foot with our German roommates, we didn't feel like slowly getting ready in the room was really an option... So we went and claimed a free pancake (to celebrate st paddys - not sure of the link...) and then booked ourselves onto a tour of the Fourex (xxxx) brewery. Blazing sunshine plus beer has to be one of the best combinations. Even if it was only 11am...

5 free beers later, and having tried the brewery's entire range, we haven't even had our lunch and we are definitely drunk. Not doing much for the boozy Brits reputation...

For our evening entertainment, we decided we were in need of something with a little more nutritional value so stocked up on lots of veg and some lamb chops and headed to the Roma Street Parklands for a barbecue. A never ending maze of flowers, kangaroo shaped hedges, rivers, lakes and waterfalls all lit up In different colours, it's crazy that this huge park is in the middle of A huge city. Keeping things green seems to be a preoccupation in Brisbane if this park and the Southbank are anything to go by.

Even in the dark, the park was busy with people having a similar idea to us but we still managed to find ourselves one of the park' many free barbecues and cooked up a Mediterranean storm. We were feeling pretty chuffed by the end... And extremely full.
